IN CHINA

One of my favorite city in China is Hang Zhou city.
Hangzhou is the capital of Zhejiang province and its political, economic and cultural center.

With its famous natural beauty and cultural heritages, Hangzhou is one of China's most important tourist venues.

Chinese sayings

"Be born in Suzhou, live in Hangzhou, eat in Guangzhou, die in Liuzhou." (生在苏州, 活在杭州, 吃在广州, 死在柳州)
The meaning here lies in the fact that Suzhou was renowned for its beautiful and highly civilized and educated citizens, Hangzhou for its scenery, Guangzhou for its food, and Liuzhou for its nanmu wood coffins which supposedly halted the decay of the body.
"Above is Heaven, Below are Suzhou and Hangzhou." (上有天堂，下有苏杭)
This phrase has a similar meaning to the English phrases "heaven on Earth" or "God's country".

This city hs the most beautiful lake in the world....and, no body can ignore the Pagoda...

Liuhe Pagoda (simplified Chinese: 六和塔; pinyin: Liùhé Tǎ), literally Six Harmonies Pagoda or Six Harmonies Tower, is multi-storied Chinese pagoda in southern Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, China. It is located at the foot of Yuelun Hill, facing the Qiantang River. It was originally constructed during the Northern Song Dynasty (960 - 1127 AD), destroyed in 1121, and reconstructed fully by 1165, during the Southern Song Dynasty (1127 - 1279 AD).

The christmas tree sudah keliatan pendek sekarang... The children are growing fast, and, very soon will overtake the tree....

HCMC has not change much since my last visit around 2 years ago. Motor cycles are still the kings of the road (they are every where...). Roads are crawded and, roadside r full with people..

Before the meeting (I arrived 1 day before the meeting), I hv chance to further explore the city. Setelah jalan kaki sendirian muter muter kota Vietnam, I picked one of the roadside restaurant for Pho (the Vietnamese soap noodle). Pho -nya biasa-biasa aja, but, yang menarik, across my table the local are socialising... Parents sit on the roadside, sharing foods while children are playing close by. Yang make me stay longer and wathced is the childrean r playing a familiar game... We call the game "Cak lang King" in Bangka... Ternyata...games nya sama..

Taman Mini Indonesia Indah...

I can't remember, when was the last time I visited this place..Yang pasti udah lama banget..

This morning, Saturday, 15/Nov 2008, Andrew ikut rombongan sekolah nya untuk pertandingan antar TK se Jakarta. Andrew ikut lomba main bola (??). So, Sabtu pagi, I wake up early dan ikut jemput di TMII. Ivan ngak ikut karena ada les.

TMII is still a great place for family outing. Sayang, fasilitas nya sudah banyak yang tua, maintenance kurang, agak jorok dan, pengunjung tidak teratur.

Karena mesti jemput Ivan, siang hari kami sudah harus pulang ke Jakarta.

GREENVILLE SIAP BANJIR ?

Sudah mulai musim hujan lagi... berarti mesti siap-siap banjir lagi.

Apalagi di neighborhood ini (Greenville), ngetop karena sering banjir parah.

Terakhir Februari lalu, banjir sepinggang di Greenville (lihat posting "Greenville Banjir" di bulan February 2008)...Untung rumah ini tinggi, jadi air tetep ngak masuk rumah..

Walaupun ngak masuk rumah, banjir tetap bikin lingkungan rumah jadi ngak enak. jalanan keluar tertutup. Mobil ngak bisa keluar masuk.. Kayak tinggal di pulau..

Tahun ini, warga sepertinya lebih siap ngadepin banjir . "preventive action" daripada sebelumnya "re-active action".. Tahun-tahun sebelum ini, warga cuma nyiapin "perahu karet". stock makanan dll , untuk jaga-jaga kalo banjir datang... Tahun ini, sebagian besar jalanan di komplek Greenville sudah di tinggi-in (naik sampe sekitar 90cm) dan -kata nya- pompa air siap...

Jalanan di tinggi-in , akibatnya sebagian besar rumah di Greenville, ada di bawah jalanan ; kecuali rumah-rumah yang belakangan di bangun..

Untung rumah ini tinggi, dan masih ada se-meter lebih di atas jalan yang sudah di tinggi in . Waktu banjir besar 2007 , rumah kami tetep aman...

2007..

Walaupun cukup yakin kalo tahun ini rumah kami tidak akan kebanjiran, tapi, tetap aja ada rasa was was, kalo-kalo hujan and banjir tahun ini lebih parah dari pada yll..
